The Lake Wobegon Trails Association is a coalition of community groups who banded together in 1998 to help promote the use of the newly constructed Lake Wobegon Trail. Among their goals is to enhance the experience for visitors and residents of the trail, plus provide assistance in helping to maintain the beauty of the trail.

The members of the Lake Wobegon Trails Association are from the communities along the trail including the Chambers of Commerce for Avon, Albany, Freeport, Melrose, and Sauk Centre, plus the Holdingford Commercial Club and the Albany Jaycees are charter members along with the St. Cloud Visitors Bureau. The Stearns County Park Department has a member who serves as Secretary for the organization and attends the meetings to assure a good working relationship and smooth flow of information between the parks department and the association.

We want to make special mention of Leo Sand of Albany who was instrumental in the creation of the organization and served as its first President, and to Peter Fuchsteiner for his legal assistance in helping the organization become incorporated and receive its "not for profit" status.
